TATE'S STORY:

Tate Hope Tasiopoulos was born in June 2022 with a rare genetic and degenerative disease called Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Complex Deficiency (PDCD). We received her diagnosis 18 weeks into the pregnancy. Children with PDCD cannot metabolize carbohydrates and their disorder can cause a dangerous buildup of lactic acid in their organs and robs their cells of the energy needed to function. Tate is on a strict keto diet needed to survive; however this is not a treatable cure. In late 2022, we joined forces with the amazing team of parents at the Hope for PDCD Foundation and serve on the board of directors to help fund research for a cure. The current life expectancy for a child born with PDCD is early childhood and we are hellbent on changing that.

OUR MISSION:

Our mission is simple: to find a cure for PDCD. Genetic medicine, combined with standards of care, small molecule therapy, and early diagnosis, will give children with PDCD a fighting chance. Our work will help fund and advance Phase II of research for AAV9 genetic medicine currently being done for PDCD at UTSW. Gene therapy is currently the best hope to cure PDCD and other neurodegenerative diseases.

THE EVENT:

The 4th annual Tate H'Open golf tournament will be on October 3rd, 2026. All proceeds will be going to the Hope for PDCD Foundation to give Tate and all other PDCD warriors the best chance at life possible. Tate's middle name is Hope, a feeling we have had and maintain since before she was even born. We are hopeful and beyond grateful for your continued support and are so lucky to have an amazing army behind sweet Tate who are driven to give her and her fellow PDCD warriors the best life possible. Our Tate H'Open Events have raised over $175,000 for the Hope for PDCD Foundation to date and we look forward to seeing you all on October 3rd, to increase that figure.
